Welcome – I'm Reto.
It's lovely to have you here. I'm Reto Rahm, host of the CENTURIO 5, and I was born, raised, and live in Augst. This Bed & Breakfast is a small passion project and, at the same time, a new chapter in my life – one that has a lot to do with change, courage, and reorientation.
I've designed CENTURIO 5 the way I'd wish for accommodation myself: warm, simple, personal and with loving details that make your stay more pleasant. A house that radiates peace and inspires at the same time.
Languages open doors – here at home too
I speak multiple languages fluently and am delighted to welcome guests from all over the world.
- German
- French
- English
- Spanish
- Italian (good)
For me, languages are part of genuine hospitality. They make encounters easier, more personal, and more natural.
Local Council in Augst – Education, Culture and the Roman City
In addition to CENTURIO 5, I am politically involved as Local council in Augst and I am responsible for:
- Education
- Culture
- The Roman city of Augusta Raurica
These topics are particularly close to my heart – they connect history, people, and the future. Perhaps this is also why I am fascinated by the Roman past of our village, which is discreetly and tastefully showcased in CENTURIO 5.
35 years as a self-employed graphic designer – and the changes brought by AI
For almost four decades, I worked as a freelance graphic designer. Design, typography, and visual communication have shaped my professional life and enabled many wonderful projects.
However, with the advent of artificial intelligence, a period of great change began. Much of what used to be my daily bread is now being taken over by computers.
That was painful at first – but at some point I realised:
It's time to reinvent myself.
CENTURIO 5 is part of this reorientation. A place where I can combine my creativity, my hospitality and my love of design and encounters in new ways.
Many of the pictures in the house are my own work, incidentally – a mix of classic graphic craftsmanship and modern AI techniques. For me, it's an experiment, a new playground, a further development.
Why a B&B?
Because I like people.
Because I value encounters.
Because I like designing rooms.
Because I want to pass on peace and warmth.
And because I wanted a new chapter that fits my life and my personality.
CENTURIO 5 is small, deliberately personal and furnished with great care. Not a hotel operation – but a home that I share with people who appreciate this atmosphere.
What you can expect from me
- a calm, warm, and uncomplicated manner
- Respect for your privacy
- Honest hospitality
- Helpful tips for excursions, public transport, restaurants, and Augusta Raurica
- a listening ear if you need anything
- Restraint, when you want to be on your own
Guests should feel at home with me – not just as visitors, but as people.
I'm looking forward to seeing you
Whether you're coming for a single night or for several days, my aim is that you find a little home away from home here.
Calm, warm, cosy and personal.
Welcome to CENTURIO 5.
Welcome to my place.
